Reba is a single mom, she takes care of her family, her kids, Cheyenne and her boyfriend who just moved in because they are expecting a baby, Kyra and Jake. At one point her ex-husband moves in the neigbourhood with his new wife, with whom he had an affair and who is also pregnant. But they managed to get through the mess, because as their theme song says, they’re survivors.
It might seem like a plot for a soap or a social worker’s case, but the show remained popular for its 6 seasons. It could be because of the relationship between the sarcastic and unapologetic Reba and her ‘nemesis’ Barbra Jean, the silly and annoying woman-who-stole-her-husband. Or Kyra, the little rebel and usually the voice of reason among the pair of goofballs, Van and Cheyenne.
Cheyenne: You’re leaving? Who’s going to watch Elizabeth?
Reba: Oooh, that was close. I almost left her alone with her parents!
Van Montgomery: They all want grandchildren, but they never think of the consequences…
Reba: Do you know what a teenager is?
Barbra Jean: A demon?
Barbra Jean: Brock, I had an epidural. I think that’s what Jesus would have wanted.
Kyra: I think that’s what Mary would have wanted.
